At the present time, I am coming out of a one year retirement due to health issues. I am doing small handyman jobs and home inspections. Quite a bit of babysitting has also been in order lately. We have eleven grandchildren.
I would say the best athletic (associated) accomplishment that I was able to achieve was to coach my old Little League team (Rotarians) to two League Championships and have two of my nephews on the team.
Having lived in Naperville my entire life, except for two years with Uncle Sam, I have seen a small, quiet, and friendly town turn into a large, busy, and not so friendly town. The home which I grew up in is still in the family.
The favorite memory of Naperville has to be my high school years. Sports, dances, card parties, the beach and last but not least the friendships made with classmates.
The prank or joke I will always remember is when a group of us (no names mentioned) started Barry Groves parents' 55 Chevy and moved it without his knowledge down the block. No he didn't leave the keys in the ignition and we didn't hot wire it. It so happens that my parents had a 55 Chevy and the ignition keys were identical.
If I could relive one hour of high school, it would have to be Senior Ditch Day when we walked out after the Sports Assembly to join our classmates who were already at the Dunes.
