Nancy Gates MacLeod

I have had a happy life. I have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. Two beautiful granddaughters, ages 8 and 12, live with me with their mom. I have been a widow for 14 years. I relocated to Wisconsin 10 years ago and love it, even when I have to shovel snow. Three of my children live near me.

Unfortunately, I am still working – can’t afford to retire yet. I work at home doing medical transcription. I’ve lived on both coasts, in Santa Barbara, California and Cape Cod in Mass., also lived in Texas near San Antonio. I didn’t like the hot weather, so I moved back to the Midwest.

I still play the piano and organ at church. I joined the “Mormon” church 34 years ago (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). I don’t know that I act like my mother, but I look like her.

I don’t remember high school too fondly. I was glad to be out of there.

Growing up in Naperville, I remember summer at “the beach” mostly. I spent a lot of time every summer there, and lots of time with my cousins who lived on the farm by my house.

My cousins still get together every 3 years or so for a reunion. We are all good friends. Some of them also grew up in Naperville.

That’s all I have. If I hadn’t waited so long to do this, I might have thought of some more.
